Aly McFarlane, Retirement Financial Strategist and Managing Partner at WealthFolio Advisors, began her financial education at age 14. Her beloved father and mentor, a Professor of Economics at the Claremont Colleges in Southern California, was fascinated by how people made the choices they made among the limited resources available to them and happily discovered that he had an attentive audience in his youngest daughter.
From this early foundation, Aly likewise developed a passion for financial decision-making and upon graduating from UCLA, moved to San Francisco to embark on her career as a financial advisor serving financially established clients. Aly has worked for some of the largest financial institutions in the country including Citicorp Investment Services, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Wells Fargo Private Client Services, where she was both a Sr. Financial Consultant and Sr. Vice President managing over 500 million in assets.
Increasingly uncomfortable with the knowledge that what most benefited her clients was often at odds with that which benefited her employers, Aly left Wells Fargo in pursuit of the freedom to be the fiduciary she had always envisioned, one where all decision-making was client-centric, with a particular focus on orchestrating the most efficient retirement cash-flow and estate planning strategies for each client’s unique situation. It was in this pursuit that WealthFolio Advisors was formed. Aly lives in Long Beach, CA with her husband Steve and two kids, Sophia and Christian and she makes time to visit her mother frequently in Palos Verdes.
