President’s Biography


JEFFRREY L. GIBBENS ~ Financial Advisor

Since 1986, Jeff has provided financial advice to hundreds of families, individuals and businesses. A lifelong Erie, PA resident, Jeff currently lives in Fairview, PA and is an avid golfer and accomplished musician (trumpet) and has appeared with nationally known artists as well as the Buffalo Philharmonic "Pops" Orchestra. He performs regularly at his Church home, Dorchester Drive Baptist Church in Millcreek,  as well as many local groups such as the Misery Bay Big Band. In 2005 Jeff was inducted into the PA Drum and Bugle Corps Hall of Fame, and in 2010 was inducted into the Buglers Hall of Fame. Jeff is proud to honor the veterans of his community by sounding "Taps" for our heroes at military funerals. He is also an off-ice Official for the Erie Otters Hockey Club.

 

GREGORY D. TOWER ~ Financial Advisor

A financial advisor since 1980, Greg continues to provide expert financial advice to his clients. Also a lifelong Erie, PA resident, Greg lives in Fairview, PA with his wife, Sue. Together they have three children and four grandchildren. Greg is also an accomplished musician (Trombone and Piano) and regularly performs at their church home, First Alliance Church in Millcreek, PA where he also serves as the choir director. He appears with many local groups such as the Dixie Doodlers, Misery Bay Big Band, and the Concert Band of N.W. Pennsylvania. Greg is an accredited PIAA Official, officiating Football, Swimming & Diving, and Track & Field competitions. He is also an approved instructor for Pennsylvania Insurance for Continuing Education classes for PA Insurance professionals.

 

JAMES R. Reim ~ CFA, Financial Advisor

Jim has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry. He has been providing retirement planning and expertly structuring investment portfolios for individuals, corporations, endowments, foundations, and pension plans. Jim is also very active with his church home, The First United Methodist Church in Erie, where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Finance Committee, the Endowment/Foundation Committee, Evangelism Team, and Chancel Choir. He is also active in the community as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Erie, Zem Zem Shriners, and the PA Masons. Jim is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys boating, fishing, and camping. Jim lives in Fairview with his wife, Marian. They have been married 30 years and have three grown children.

Greetings to our Current and Prospective Members!  Welcome to the American Financial Education Alliance (AFEA) Erie, PA Chapter’s website! It is my great honor and pleasure to serve as president and to share information about our great chapter.  AFEA is a dynamic and growing non-profit organization which exists to provide a forum where people of all walks of life can gain information, education and experience about managing and understanding their finances.

Erie, PA, December 12, 2013 – The American Financial Education Alliance, a national advocate for greater financial literacy education in U.S. schools, announced today that its Board of Directors.unanimously voted to name Jeff Gibbens as the new Chapter President, and Greg Tower as a Financial Coach for AFEA’s Erie Chapter.

Bringing a combined 60 years of experience to the Chapter, Jeff and Greg, are both talented musicians and very involved in their local churches and also in their community through programs like the.Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Erie Otters Hockey Club.
